Sport can unite, share how we celebrate Martin Luther King holiday

There is many reflective twists and turns the importance of sport as a nation today celebrates Martin Luther King day.

Sport can heal racial tension. It can bind white and black blood brothers. It is a powerful barrage in times of tragedy: throwing a tattered 9/11 flag witness during the Winter Olympics in 2002.

"We must learn life together as brothers or perish together as fools," King said.

"This is Rex Ryan about Bill Belichick vs.," said Ryan, part of the pre playoff game blood bath quotes between the New York Jets and the New England Patriots. "There is no question." "It's personal."

I mean not Dr. King's reputation with the contrast that foolish, bombastic coach of jets sully.

But the point is relevant. Sport, naturally, is defined by opportunities that call for the passive resistance and compassion's have nothing to do with Dr. King.

Sport is the great identifier. Sport is the great divider.

Contempt, anger and hatred can stir up sport. It comes from the inner Kook in all of us. (If you ever wore face paint, please take a bow.)

One of my neighbors shaved head his favorite team in a Mr. T Mohawk this weekend etched the word "Steelers" on the side of the head to honor, and went to a sports bar, Pittsburgh to celebrate playoff victory over the Baltimore Ravens.

There is nothing wrong with any of this, although I thank a pass on the Mohawk, you like to take.

Sport is otherwise elected us ugly, color combinations and turn into a passionate fashion statement. (Orange and blue curtains - really?) It turns brother against brother, Gator against Seminole, United States, against the Soviet block. Sport is omnipotent FrazierMuhammad Ali, Nicklaus Palmer, Auburn Alabama, a bunch of USA Hockey neophytes against the Soviets.

We should embrace the best of both worlds to celebrate Martin Luther King day.

Can we have social compassion for our brethren, while still trying to kick the snot out of it?

The Ying and Yang beginner this week between the jets and the Patriots undermine the integrity of the game not it bring it down to the level of the Neanderthals duking out with sticks and stones.

It was just unfriendly fire big competitors with large teams.

Ryan, were cornerback Antonio Cromartie and who else in agreed just to say what does anyone when you face a fierce competition.

She don't like him. It's personal. Want to crush you.

And despite all the yada-yada in print and in cyberspace, the worst that what occurred was a few angry words and Ryan's playful JAB punch at a TV camera before the game. Ryan was the final blow in anyway as the jets that Pats bounced from the playoffs.

Everyone settle down and played a fun, clean game Sunday afternoon.

It was the best thing that has to offer sport containing contentious crossfire.

"The ultimate measure of a man is not where it the comfort and convenience is in moments but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy," King said.

The Patriots and the jets were all about the challenge and the controversy Sunday afternoon.

In this context honored Dr. King's legacy as true champions.

Some jeered while others to the Jets win jeered.

The sport is the unifying and divisive remains rooted in our culture.
